Keywords
Integer programming, extended formulations, column generation, Benders decomposition, network-flow models, dynamic programming, operations research, cutting and packing.
Research interests
- Extended formulations — designing large integer programming models (e.g. based on network flows or dynamic programming) whose linear relaxations are much stronger than classical compact models.
- Decomposition methods — column generation, branch-and-price, Benders decomposition, and aggregation/disaggregation techniques to solve these large formulations efficiently.
- Cutting and packing problems — bin packing, cutting stock, two-dimensional packing, and their variants.
- Applications — energy (power networks, hydro valleys), logistics and vehicle routing, staff and train scheduling.
